Have you heard about Creative Visualization?

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about Creative Visualization – attracting success and anything positive you desire, to your life. I will admit – those who know me would say I have always been a worrier. Feeling anxious? Vividly imagining the worst possible outcome? I have been guilty of it on many occasions. It’s as if I could only find comfort in that state: If I am expecting it (the worst), if I am “prepared”, then surely it won’t affect me as much when it comes (because surely, it’s coming).

It has gotten so far as starting worrying (see?) about my health because my heart rate has become constantly faster than normal. When my husband introduced me to the concept of Creative Visualization, I thought about positive thinking. This term has always sounded a bit like a cliché to me. Keep thinking positive! I mean I really wish I did, but how do you really adopt this type of outlook on life?

When I started reading and researching about the power of your thoughts and how you can actually invite whatever you want into your life, I was intrigued. I started paying more attention to my thoughts and what they can bring to me. I am not saying I have changed completely or that miracles started happening in my life.  I just try to be more conscious of where my thoughts are taking me. I am taking it one step at a time. When a worrisome thought and a negative vision appears, I try to imagine just the opposite.

Visualization must start with desire. You simply imagine in your mind what you want to be, do or have. You envision the ideal state. The key is to visualize yourself already in the desired state. One should not wish for the desired state, nor worry about how to get there (I like that part). Just picture yourself doing, being or having what you want – and it will come to you. I often imagine myself completely free of worry, healthy and full of love, usually laughing with my husband in our new beach house. Some of it I already have, some of it is just a dream. Can I make it a reality?

It might take me a while to be able to reach my sub consciousness and open my mind to get comfortable with this technique and believe it really works, but being aware of where my thoughts might take me is the beginning. I wouldn’t have started this journey without the person who has taught me so much– my husband. Thank you!

Janka, this is a wonderful balm for a beautiful and powerful topic; and it is so clearly and candidly written. The idea can be overdrawn by an overly complex approach. The pure idea that the conscious mind can intensely meditate on a positive creative outcome is powerful. The subconscious is active all the time, but you have shown that we can actively reach it with our will and desire. Thanks so much for your obvious creative and positive article. You obviously have noble goals!
